Bindu

“Capgemini has given a global perspective to my career. From Finland, to India and now Denmark, I’m continually expanding my horizons.”
– Manager Consultant, Rightshore® Sales, Denmark, with Capgemini since 2005

Bindu has around 11 years of experience as a sales person in IT solutions. Her career has given her the opportunity to travel across Europe, from the UK to Finland and Denmark. She has an MBA with dual specialization in Finance and Information Management with project experience from London.

Inspiration

“What caught my attention was that Capgemini is a global player, which could bring an international perspective to my career. Compared with other players in the same market, I was impressed by the clarity of the projects, and the lucidity with which information is shared. I knew this was a company that had something to offer me and I could easily relate to its culture.”

Development

Over 3 years at Capgemini, Bindu has already spent time at Capgemini Finland and Capgemini India, and currently works in Denmark, where her role involves defining and clarifying Capgemini India’s capabilities.

“I have learnt a lot. Through exposure to the local market, as well as the UK, Finland and Denmark, I’ve really broadened my knowledge.”

Life at Capgemini

“There’s a really open culture at Capgemini. You can integrate well – there’s a true respect for, and understanding of, other cultures. Our top managers are also very approachable. I can easily walk in and ask for a moment of their time. Another great thing about working here is the freedom we have in our work. Your manager defines your role, but you have the flexibility to decide which way you want to drive.”

Dedication

“There are still challenges that lie in striking a balance between two cultures,” says Bindu of her experiences in Finland, “Being part of a new culture can be difficult, especially if there are language barriers. But you have to be flexible and adapt – that’s why I took up Finnish.”

Bindu also values the importance of making friends with her colleagues: “My Finnish colleagues loved Indian food – it was a real ice-breaker! I often did some cooking for them at the weekend. I had to leave the spices behind for them when I left!”

Time Out

Bindu has recently been involved in a new foundation: “Naandi” : a charity dedicated to helping Indian girls receive education. Her role is to introduce the project and raise funds for it. “In India boys are given preferential treatment especially in the rural areas; things are changing, but there’s still a long way to go. This project is close to my heart – it aims to have a real impact on people’s lives. I wanted to give back to society what it has given me.” Capgemini India is supporting the initiative.

Bindu is also an athlete and ran, as well as organized, the Standard Chartered Marathon in India.
